Overview
TGB League ("we", "us", "our", or the "App") is a golf league management application operated for amateur golf societies. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this policy.
The App is operated from South Africa. If you access it from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, password (stored hashed by Firebase Authentication), and optionally a profile photo and home province.
- League activity: rounds played, scores, hole-by-hole data, handicaps, and league/team membership.
- Communications: messages you send via in-app feedback or to our support email.
Information collected automatically
- Device & log data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs and basic diagnostics.
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, and timestamps — used to improve the App.
- Push notification tokens: if you opt in, a unique device token is stored so we can send league notifications.
Information from third parties
- If you sign in with Google, Apple, or another federated provider, we receive basic profile information (name, email, profile picture) from that provider.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account and league memberships.
- To compute and display scores, leaderboards, badges, and head-to-head statistics.
- To send transactional emails (e.g. email verification, password reset, league notifications).
- To deliver push notifications you have opted into.
- To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the App.
- To show advertisements (see "Advertising" below).
- To comply with legal obligations.
Legal Basis (POPIA / GDPR)
Where applicable, we rely on the following legal bases to process personal information:
- Contract: to provide the App and its features to you.
- Legitimate interest: to keep the App secure, prevent fraud, and improve our services.
- Consent: for push notifications, marketing emails, and personalised advertising — you can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the following:
- Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, push notifications (FCM), and analytics.
- Google AdMob — ad delivery and measurement.
- MailerSend — transactional email delivery (verification, password reset, branded emails).
- Other league members — your name, profile photo, scores, and badges are visible to other members of leagues you join. This is a core feature of the App.
- Law enforcement or regulators — when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights.
Aggregated or anonymised data that cannot identify you may be shared without restriction.
Advertising
The App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use device identifiers and other information to serve and measure ads. You can manage ad personalisation:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID / Opt out of ad personalisation.

Data Retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your private data (profile, login credentials, league memberships, push-notification tokens, season recaps) and anonymise your public league history (scores, leaderboard entries, badges, head-to-head statistics) so other players' stats stay accurate. Anonymised records appear under the name "Deleted user" with no profile photo.
We may retain limited records where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g. fraud prevention, dispute resolution).
Security
We use industry-standard security measures including TLS in transit, Firebase server-side encryption at rest, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (POPIA in South Africa, GDPR in the EU/UK, etc.), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your account and personal data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator or your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
International Transfers
Our service providers (Firebase, AdMob, MailerSend) may store and process data outside South Africa, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account from within the App at any time:
Profile tab → tap the three-dot (⋮) menu next to the ball logo → Delete Account. Confirm the prompt and your account is removed immediately.
Deletion is permanent and removes your sign-in credentials, profile information, league memberships, and push-notification tokens. Your past scores, badges, and leaderboard placements remain in league history under the label "Deleted user" so other players' stats stay accurate, as described under "Data Retention".
If you were the sole captain of a league, captaincy is automatically transferred to the longest-tenured remaining member.
If you cannot use the in-app option, email beervwykdev@gmail.com from the address linked to your account and we will process the deletion within 7 days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
